The courses and examinations are developed and administered by Institute of Arts and Sciences (IAS).
*The Certificate in General Studies is a foundation program designed for post‐secondary students who have completed G.C.E. ’NT’ level and above. This program better prepares students for entry into our specialized diploma programs.
Target Audience
This is a program designed for students who intend to pursue a post‐secondary education, or fulfill the college‐level admission criteria. It is also intended for those who wish to further their studies beyond secondary education.
It is designed for students and adults who wish to benefit from the advantages of studying a wider range of subjects that are relevant both to academic and daily life.
The Program provides instruction contributing to the development of general and academic knowledge that enables students to move on to tertiary education.
Delivery and Assessement Formats
This program caters for both local and overseas candidates via a mixture of online and face‐to‐face learning. The online learning is offered using the in‐house student portal system for all courses with comprehensive assessment for every module. The face‐to-face lectures address the need for interactions on advanced topics, concepts and applications. These lectures may also be conducted online via our IT platform and advanced streaming technology.
Candidates will go through three phases of learning for all courses, which comprises knowledge acquisition, assessments and final examinations.
Students with prior knowledge of specific modules may be exempted from the first phase of study if they successfully pass the initial assessment and proceed to the second phase, thus effectively shortening their learning cycle.
Certificate Award
Students will be conferred the Certificate in General Studies when they have successfully met the above graduation requirements and attained approval from the Academic and Examination Board of Institute of Arts and Sciences. Students who fulfill their graduation requirements will receive their certification within 3 months from their final examination results date.

Graduation Requirements
To obtain the Certificate students must achieve a minimum G.P.A of 2.00 and pass all examinations and/or assessments prescribed.
